The tour of the works was introduced in the early 1980’s by popular demand. It is a self guided tour and is both educational and fun. There is an introductory film presentation, after which you can wander through the workshops at your own pace and view the machines and craftsmen in action, accompanied by commentary on your own personal Audio Guide.

We have recently updated and improved our audio commentary and this is now also available in French, German, Spanish, Chinese and Japanese for our overseas visitors as well as English and Welsh.

There are also geological, historical, calligraphy and letter cutting exhibitions. Try your hand at calligraphy and engrave on a piece of slate that you are welcome to keep as a memento.

Children can also compete in our quiz to win a slate prize.

The new showroom has a wide variety of the company’s slate craft products as well as other craft products of a Celtic and Welsh theme.

Our café which is franchised to a local farmer who also has a butchery and farm shop adjacent to the café, is open year round to serve our visitors.
