Slate Quarrying in Corris

The new information in this edition by the author Alun John Richards takes forward and updates the sadly no longer ongoing story of this most interesting and innovative of Welsh slate regions.

It escaped the worst of the disputes and confrontations so endemic elsewhere, but the men faced the same dangers and their families the same hardships, as in the better known slate districts.

Although Corris outputs were never great and its years of real prosperity few, it was for five hundred years and more a fascinating microcosm of the industry and indeed the wider world.
