Did you Know…

Inigo Jones Slate Works is celebrating 160 years in business this year!

Founded in 1861 to produce school writing slates, today Inigo Jones Slate Works uses the same raw material namely natural Welsh slate to produce Architectural, Memorial, Landscape and Craft products.  These include hearths, copings, cremation plaques, sundials, bird baths, clocks and placemats. Bespoke plaques and nameplates are engraved to order and are supplied all over the United Kingdom and abroad. Visit our Showroom near Caernarfon, or take a look online.

But beyond the products and the shop front, you can step back in time, explore the process of Slate Working – View our craftsmen at work, and experience for your self the skills involved in engraving Welsh Slate.
All on one site, whilst on The Great Slate Tour!  The site also offers free parking, Gerlan café and butchery even access to the Lon Eifion, a part of the Lôn Las Cymru, route number 8 on the National Cycle Network.

Why not plan a visit, take a look and have a go!
Come meet us – but if you can’t, keep an eye out for more trivia about the people behind the products! Coming Soon!
