Pan ddisodlwyd llechi ysgrifennu gan bapur bu\u2019n rhaid i\u2019r cwmni ddarganfod nwyddau newydd. Dechreuodd Hugh Jones, y perchennog ar y pryd, gynhyrchu paneli trydan mewn llechen. Bu\u2019r rhain yn hynod o boblogaidd ac ehangodd y cwmni\u2019n gyflym gan ddefnyddio llechi o bob rhan o Ogledd Cymru.<\/p>\n Roedd y gwaith o osod haen o enamel ar y llechen yn broses hirfaith a llafurus gan fod yn rhaid crasu\u2019r llechen mewn odyn am fwy na 48 awr. Er hyn, cynhyrchwyd miloedd o baneli trydan o lechen ar safle Tudor Slate Works Inigo Jones. Roedd y gwaith yn gyfrifol am gyflenwi paneli ar gyfer llongau moethus enwoca\u2019r byd: Y Queen Mary<\/em>, Y Mauritania<\/em> a\u2019r Queen Elizabeth<\/em>. Mae\u2019n dal yn bosibl gweld paneli llechen gwreiddiol y Queen Mary yn Long Beach, Califfornia, lle mae\u2019r llong bellach yn atyniad i ymwelwyr.<\/p>\n Dros amser daeth defnyddiau mwy modern, rhatach i’r amlwg i greu paneli trydan, ac felly arallgyfeiriodd y cwmni unwaith eto, y tro hyn i gynhyrchu lleoedd t\u00e2n o lechen. Roedd gan y rhan fwyaf o\u2019r rhain haen o enamel ac roedd sawl un hefyd yn cynnwys golygfeydd lleol wedi eu peintio \u00e2 llaw. Ar hyn o bryd mae lle t\u00e2n gwreiddiol a gynhyrchwyd ar ddiwedd y 19eg ganrif yn cael ei arddangos fel rhan o daith hunandywysedig y cwmni.<\/p>\n Dros y blynyddoedd mae\u2019r cwmni wedi cyflenwi cofebion llechen ac mae\u2019n parhau i wneud hynny. Mae technoleg wedi datblygu bellach gan alluogi’r cwmni i ysgythru llythrennedd a lluniau gyda pheiriant naddu arbennig neu eu chwythellu \u00e2 thywod ac mae hyn yn llawer cynt na\u2019r dull traddodiadol o dorri\u2019r llythrennau \u00e2 llaw.<\/p>\n Yn fwy diweddar mae\u2019r cwmni wedi bod yn cyflenwi mwy o nwyddau llechi ar gyfer y cartref, yn cynnwys lloriau, topiau gwaith cegin ac aelwydydd. Mae crefftau llechen hefyd wedi bod yn boblogaidd ar gyfer y cartref, ac mae\u2019r rhain yn cynnwys pethau fel placiau wal, clociau, lampau, rheseli dal gwin, matiau bwyta a drychau. The last self guided tour is at 4pm.<\/strong>\r\n\r\nInigo Jones Slate Works was founded in 1861 primarily to prefabricate school writing slates, when school writing slates were replaced by paper, the company had to find new products. The owner at the time, Hugh Jones, started producing electrical panels in slate. These proved to be very popular and the company rapidly expanded, sourcing its slate from the whole of North Wales.\r\n\r\nThe slate was enamelled and this was a slow, laborious process as the slate had to be baked in ovens for over 48 hours. Thousands of electrical slate panels were produced at Inigo Jones Tudor Slate Works. The world famous Queen Mary, Mauritania and the Queen Elizabeth luxury liners all had panels from these works. The original slate panels supplied to the Queen Mary can still be seen in Long Beach, California where the liner is now a tourist attraction.\r\n\r\nAs cheaper man-made products replaced slate for electrical panels, the company diversified into slate fireplaces, the majority of these fireplaces were enamelled and many of them also included hand painted local scenes. An original fireplace supplied in the late 19th century is currently on display as part the company's self guided tour.\r\n\r\nOver the years the company has supplied slate memorials and it still continues to do so. Technology has moved on however, and letters are now either machine cut or sand blasted as this is far quicker than the traditional hand letter cutting.\r\n\r\nMore recently the company has supplied more slate for domestic use and these include such things as flooring, kitchen work tops and hearths. Also for the home, craft products have proved popular and these include such things as wall plaques, clocks, lamps, wine racks, place mats and mirrors.
